Quarry Products held a public exhibition to showcase their proposal to extract soft sand and establish a concrete plant on land in Oxfordshire.
The planning application, which has now been submitted to Oxfordshire County Council, is for the phased extraction of soft sand and the establishment of a concrete plant at the proposed new site near the village of Tubney.
If planning permission is granted, it is estimated that over the next 18 years, 17.3 hectares will be extracted, yielding approximately 900,000 tonnes of mineral. The site, which will be called Tubworth Quarry, will replace the nearby Upwood Quarry after completion
of extraction there and will be worked in eight phases, starting in the southeast corner and working northwards.
Restoration is planned immediately after each extraction phase is completed and will provide agricultural and ecological benefits to the area, including a wide range of new habitats.
